What are you reading Mondays?

Monday, September 28, 2009

This is a weekly Meme run by J. Kaye's Book Blog. Post the books completed last week, the books you are currently reading, and the books you hope to finish this week

My plan for the past week was catching up on reviews rather than reading anything new..Didn't work out as well as i hoped it would. There's still a nice long backlog, but i did get quite a few reviews up

Read/ Reviewed:Click on the link to see the review

>> Wild Rain - Christine Feehan - 4.5 / 5 Really liked this story.

>> According To Jane - Marilyn Brant 5++ / 5 This is the authors first book, and it is awesome

>> Bitten - Kelley Armstrong - 5++ / 5 I think i've read this one bout 4 times already.

>> Dime Store Magic - Kelley Armstrong 3.5 / 5. Not as good as book 1, maybe cause there's no Clay :(

>> A Tall Dark Cowboy - Mackenzie McKade 3.5/5 Good story, but i reviewed it only for the funny parts.

>> Caressed by Ice - Nalini Singh 4.5 / 5. Nalini Singh, need i say more?

>> Storm Born - Richelle Mead 4/ 5 Finished this last night. I think Richelle Mead is getting added to my favourite author list.

Reading this week:

>> Blood and Chocolate - Annette Curtis Klause p 23. Need to get back to reading this one. So hoping it gets better

>> Tigana - Guy Gavriel Kay  p 46 Confusing at first, but i'm starting to get pulled in

>> The Wind in the Willows - Kenneth Grahame pg 26. Just for fun. And because I haven't read it before. You can read it for free at http://www.wowio.com/ or download it from goodreads as well

>> Industrial Magic - Kelley Armstrong.
Wishlist / Discovered last week:
I discovered these books through recommendations/reviews and they've happily increased my growing pile. Click on the links to see the reviews

>> The Greatest Knight: - Elizabeth Chadwick - Lovely review at Royal Reviews

>> Under a Blood Red Sky - Kate Furnivall  - Another great book from Royal Reviews as part of their ancient history week

>> Deeper - Megan Hart  - Think i heard bout this one from Goodreads. The story sounds pretty good, and i love the cover.

>> Something, Maybe - Elizabeth Scott  - found this at S. Krishna's Books.

Favourite line for the week:

"A stereotype becomes a stereotype when a significant percentage of the population appears to conform to it."

Thanks Alaine - Stolen definitely expands on the world-building from Bitten

Maree - definitely sticking with Tiagana. I love me a nice big fantasy book

Thanks Jennifer, hopefully i can get my hands on it soon

Karen - it was one more way for me to keep track of where i heard of a good book from. And its always good to spread the news.

One of these days I need to read a book by Nalini Singh. Is there a "must read first" book of hers you'd suggest?

K said...

Mary, as far as i've checked she has two series running. Guild Hunter - which has Angel's Blood as the first book, the next one's out next year, so maybe you can wait and read this one later. That way you don't have to wait for book 2 for long

The other and more popular series is the Psy-Changeling Series with Slave to Sensation as the first book. Start with that one. The Series gets better as it progresses.
My reviews are one the links above.

I really want to read the Chadwick book also -- I read a lot of her books when I was younger and really enjoyed them!

Hi, K!

I really liked On the Edge, it's a fabulous start to Andrews' new series!

I really like Storm Born, too and can't wait to read Thorn Queen.

Happy reading! :)

Marie - I haven't read any Chadwick before, so this'll be a first for me

Wendy - I'm waiting to get my hands on On the Edge, glad you liked it. I'm going to start Thorn Queen today, cant wait to see what happens next

J Kaye - that book is an addiction for me.

Thanks Leslie - I finally managed to catch up on some of my reviews, and ended up reading the books all over again as well. I love that quote too

For 1 week I read A thousand Splendid Suns... and now i m finally starting on the Lost Symbol :)

Now let me chk out the Willows thing :)

Veens - I didn't really read them all. Most were half written reviews that i finally posted..just skimmed those books a bit so i could finally post the reviews
Also, this was a real boring week - had nothing special to do.

There's lots of books on wowio, some really good ones.
