What are you reading on Mondays?

Monday, October 5, 2009

This is a weekly Meme run by J. Kaye's Book Blog. Post the books completed last week, the books you are currently reading, and the books you hope to finish this week. Head on over there to see what everyone else is reading.

Last week was real busy at work and stuff, so i didn't get much time with the blog. I did sign up for the The Countdown Challenge 2010. What can i say, i'm addicted to these things.

Read last week:

>> Thorn Queen - Richelle Mead  5/5 Even better than the first book in the series. Reviews will be up soon.

>> Chaotic - Kelley Armstrong. 5/5  This was a short story in the Dates From Hell anthology and is about Karl Marsten, the non-pack werewolf with quick fingers and a taste for the good things in life and Hope Adams, a chaos half-demon. I really liked this story, but haven't read any of the other stories in the anthology yet.

>> Industrial Magic - Kelley Armstrong. 4/5 Book 4 in the Women of the Otherword series, this was a lot of fun to read.

>> Touch the Dark - Karen Chance. 3/5  Book 1 in the Cassandra Palmer series, i finished this last night

Click on the link to see my reviews for:
>> Stolen - Kelley Armstrong   3.5 of 5 stars

>> Dime Store Magic - Kelley Armstrong   3 of 5 stars

Reading this week:

>> Tigana - Guy Gavriel Kay p 119 Slow reading seeing as this is 600+ pages. But i'm completely loving it.

>> Treasure - Clive Cussler p 300

>> Haunted  - Kelley Armstrong

Wishlist / Discovered last week:
I discovered these books through recommendations/reviews and they've happily increased my growing pile. Click on the links to see the reviews that sold the books:

>> The Puzzle King by Betsy Carter: See the review at Rundpinne

>> His Eyes by ReneĆ© Carter: See more at J. Kaye's Book Blog

>> Intertwined by Gena Showalter. Another one from J. Kaye's Book Blog

>> Ice Land – Betsy Tobin. This is a fantasy based on norse mythology at S. Krishna Books .

Its my birthday today, so the Favourite lines for the week are birthday related..

"Take every birthday with a grain of salt. This works better if the salt accompanies a large margarita."

And on a more serious note:
"Sooner or later we all discover that the important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, the graduations, the weddings, not the great goals achieved. The real milestones are less prepossessing. They come to the door of memory unannounced, stray dogs that amble in, sniff around a bit and simply never leave. Our lives are measured by these."  — Susan B. Anthony

Happy Reading

How do you like Clive Cussler? I always pick up his books. I'm curious. I like adventure stories.

Happy Happy Birthday! I do hope you had a fantastic day!
My oldest son loves Clive Cussler's novels. I find it fascinating how he travels about before writing his adventure novels.
Thank you for the linky love. The Puzzle King is a truly amasing book and I do so hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

So sorry that Stolen didn't have the same impact as book one. I have it on my to read list. I'd like to get caught up on the series in 2010.

Happy Birthday!

I have to read the Kelley Armstrong series, I started it awhile back but couldn't get into it. I think it's time to try it again.

Also I'll have to check out the Richelle Mead series.

Thanks Everyone for the Birthday Wishes. I most definitely had a great time yesterday

Teddyree, Sheila - Thorn Queen and Chaotic were both happy surprises

Tea : I LOVE CLIVE CUSSLER. The man can write adventure. Its like Indiana Jones but 007 style. The Dirk Pitt Series books are the best

Jennifer - I'm looking forward to reading The Puzzle King

J Kaye - the Otherworld Series still makes good reading. You cannot go wrong with Armstrong's writing. Hope you get to read them soon

Crystal - I hope you like Armstrong the second time around. I've liked all the Mead books I've read so far.

Zia, Marie, Mary - Thanks for stopping by

Have a great week
