I'm back !!!!

Thursday, October 9, 2008

And still sick :(
And it hasn't yet sunk in that I'm back from Bombay. Got back yesterday morning. But this morning, i forgot i was back in SIN. So i didn't get up. Then i got up and wasn't feeling well, so i went back to sleep. That makes it 2 days in a row I've been late to work. This could be the beginning of a trend, in fact i hope it is.
The being sick isn't helping. I'm not sick enough that i can take leave and stay at home in bed all day, but sick enough that its getting annoying. I hate having a cold - break my hand and i can come to terms with it, but a cold i cannot live with.
Spent my whole holiday back home with a fever and almost no voice - no way to have a good birthday - or as someone said the other day - I've spent half ** a century on this planet now. That does put things in perspective

----Update--
Ooops.. My bad.. she said quarter century, i think in my excitement of typing i wrote half instead of quarter... it may have been because i was wasted, or it may have been because half has lesser letters to type out than quarter.. Thanks Lateralus

Home Sweet Home

Friday, February 8, 2008

I'm not sure why I didn't think of this earlier and plan a proper longer holiday, but then that’s usually how it is... Last minute plans these were...
I figured Chinese new year holidays would be better spent ambling the time away at home in India instead of being stuck in Singapore where most people have left for the festivities and holidays to other parts of Asia.

All in all, this has been a well planned surprise visit.. and I’m so happy to be back sleeping on my own bed and tasting all the lovely food here.
My lovely Malwani food from the take away at the corner of the road - if I had a last meal before being sent to the electric chair - this would be it (along with some Goan sausages, and some other food as well. Big meal that one will be)

Dear Ole Goa Portugesa - without the owner coming and disturbing you at your table that is.

The Amazing n Awesome Jai Hind at Pali Naka - this food will also be included in that last meal.

Gondola's and Soul Fry - I never know which one to go to, agony it is chosing cause they're both so yummy..

And my favourite place i missed the most - Good Luck Irani Cafe at Mehboob Studios. It’s just not a proper morning without the yummy Brun Maska and egg Bhurji. Sigh. This followed by Mango Milkshake at Just around the corner - this one you just have to taste.

All that’s left now, Margarita's at Not Just Jazz and my usual dinner at DPRC... I can hardly wait for tonight...

Traffic is a Killer - The Great Wildebeest Crossing

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

If you’ve ever travelled by road in Mumbai you would have experienced this for sure. You are in your car/cab/handcart and someone just darts by across the roads forcing brakes to be slammed upon and half your body hitting the windshield (Seatbelts seatbelts). I've always thought they did this because they knew that as a motorist you’d be in shit loads of more trouble for knocking them down that they ever could be. I doubt anyone’s ever been caught/fined for crossing a road in this country, and no matter who’s at fault, its usually always the motorist who gets beaten up (community activity)
If you’ve ever been at the lucky restaurant junction at Bandra, you know exactly what I mean. I swear people here wait for the traffic signals to turn green and cars start moving to realise that they have a sudden urge to be on the other side of the road. And by people I mean a minimum of 50 people. So one brave soldier starts inching ahead, unsure of whether he should be the leader, and then ten more join in and push him and themselves ahead, and lo and behold, its like the wildebeest crossing at the Serengeti plains. Needless to say all traffic has come to a halt (while the signal is still green) and beware any car that tries to move ahead.
I swear I get this manic desire to drive thru and intentionally hurt some people just to teach them a lesson, but higher intelligence warns me that the only one to learn any lesson at all will be me..
